Sylvia Masters

Sylvia Masters, 27, is a native of Houma, graduate of Nicholls State University, and a News Anchor at KLFY News 10 in Lafayette. Sylvia’s hobbies include singing the National Anthem at events, playing the piano, and joyriding with her dogs, Saylor and Spanky.

The oldest of five children born and raised on the bayous in southeast Louisiana, Sylvia’s Louisiana roots and love for the state’s culture run deep. While she may have grown up dirt bike riding and playing soccer, she has long since dreamed of one day competing on the Miss USA stage. After competing for fifteen years in pageants, the dream of being Miss Louisiana USA has come true but her “why” has evolved into something bigger with more meaning and purpose than her seven-year-old self could have ever imagined.

During her reign, Sylvia hopes to bring more awareness to the causes most dear to her heart, including advocating for early detection and screenings for cancer in memory of her father. She also hopes to continue bringing joy to childhood cancer patients and their families through hospital visits and programs through Child Life Centers throughout Louisiana’s hospitals. Sylvia opens her home fostering puppies throughout the year and advocates for adoption of animals hoping to decrease the overcrowding in animal shelters and as Miss Louisiana USA hopes to continue this work.
